Tool steel is a type of steel used for manufacturing cutting tools, measuring instruments, molds, and wear-resistant tools. It possesses high hardness and retains its hardness and red hardness at high temperatures, along with high wear resistance and appropriate toughness.

Hardness

Tools made from tool steel exhibit sufficient hardness after heat treatment. For tools used in custom metal cutting processes, the hardness is typically above HRC60. Even under high-temperature conditions generated by high cutting speeds and processing hard materials, tool steel maintains high hardness and good red hardness. Carbon tool steel and alloy tool steel can maintain high hardness at working temperatures of approximately 180°C to 250°C, while high-speed tool steel can retain high hardness at around 600°C. Red hardness is a crucial property for hot deformation dies and high-speed cutting tools.

Wear Resistance

Tool steel exhibits excellent resistance to wear, meaning it can withstand considerable pressure and friction without changing its shape and dimensions.
