Basics About POM Machining

Polyoxymethylene homopolymer (POM) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic known for its impact resistance and wear resistance, widely used in various mechanical machining applications. The CNC delrin is favored by engineers due to its excellent material properties and high delrin machinability. Although inherently opaque, CNC POM is available in various colors. It has a density of 1.410-1.420 g/cm3, a crystallinity of 75-85%, and a melting point of 175°C. POM is well-suited for machining processes such as milling and turning. The machining delrin can also be laser cut, and its granules can be used for injection molding and plastic extrusion.
